Cinnamon French Toast Sticks
For Easter we make a lot of Easter bread (paska) and we always get left over's. This bread is wonderful for making French toast; you can use any bread that you prefer. The Easter bread is sweet, soft, and buttery. I also love French toast. It's perfect for breakfast with a cup of coffee or tea (mmm). These French toast sticks are super easy to make and they come out great. I hope you enjoy!
What you need:
About 2 cups of milk
3 eggs
1/3 cup of sugar
medium size loaf of bread
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Slice the bread into long semi-thick rectangles.
Combine the eggs, sugar, and vanilla and whisk together. Add in the milk and the cinnamon and continue whisking. Place the mixture into the refrigerator and let rest for about 30 minutes.
Take about 5 tablespoons of sugar and 1/2 of a tablespoon of cinnamon and mix together. Pour it onto a plastic bag for easier clean up.
Pre-heat the skillet on high, and dd 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and a splash of oil.
When the skillet has warmed up set the temperature to low. Take out the mixture and start by dipping the bread one at a time and placing them into the skillet. Fry each side for about 5 minutes or until a golden color.
Roll the bread in the sugar mixture and let cool on a plate.
Thanks for visiting my blog! Enjoy!
